Thank you SDSMT for a great SPNHC 2013!
June 24, 2013
The SPNHC annual meeting was held last week at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSMT). The fun packed week included pre-meeting field trips, and then talks, iDigBio symposium, DemoCamp, posters, vendors and a banquet at the Surbeck Center. A swinging ice cream social was held at the new and very impressive, Paleontology Research Labs (PRL) with a visit to the fascinating Museum of Geology nearby. The vendors sponsored a great evening at the Journey Museum with its terrific walk through South Dakota time. The delicious SPNHC banquet was topped by hoop dancing performed by a Lakota student at the university. Her wonderful rendition of a butterfly fit well with her ambitions in the field of astrophysics. SPNHC was let loose on the town of Rapid City following that event and managed to arrive in time for a workshop/field trip to Mammoth Springs on the final day.
Thank to all who made this such a successful meeting, but especially to the chief organizer, Sally Shelton.
