SPNHC/CFR June 17-22, 2013 Rapid City
February 02, 2013
NEWS FLASH from Sally Shelton:
"So here are the ballpark registration figures. The website is about to go live as we get the final hotel confirmation. FYI: Due to the high percentage of Federal employees attending, the room costs are capped at $126 per the GSA per diem rate for Rapid City in the summer.
As you know, there are two conferences with an overlap workshop. Registration for either the CFR OR SPNHC alone, if you are not registering for both, will include registration for the Wednesday workshop on repositories.
CFR alone will be about $175. Since CFR is not a membership group, there is not a membership discount. This includes the price of the meeting proceedings volume, including extended papers from the mitigation paleontology session. SPNHC alone will be about $275 for SPNHC members, $350 for non-members. This includes the conference program, banquet and abstracts publication.
Registration for both CFR and SPNHC will be about $375 for SPNHC members and $450 for non-members.
Registration for just the Wednesday workshop will be $75.
These prices will be posted in final form ASAP. The price of breaks and lunches are factored in. Prices will be lower before May 15. There will also be lower rates for students and for conference volunteers who help for 4 or more hours.
The two-day pre-conference field trip to the Fossil Cycad site and key White River Badlands sites will be offered at a flat rate of $150. This will include 4 meals, transportation, lodging arrangements and a field log.
The post-conference workshop on in-situ conservation at the Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, Inc., is still under negotiation for on-site costs, but the registration price will not exceed $75 for SPNHC members and will include a publication incorporating key in-situ conservation references and abstracts from the presentations. In addition, a number of day trips to Black Hills sites and attractions will be offered for around $50 each, which includes transportation and lunch.
The Rapid City airport is a regional hub with direct connections to Salt Lake City, Minneapolis and Denver.
Registration will open on-line next week via SDSMT with final prices and on-site information. Thank you for your patience as we work out this complex meeting. Our local committee and colleagues in the region are really excited about this event and look forward to meeting you all!"
